Sr. Software Engineer

About SView:

We are an early stage Silicon Valley company building a mobile publishing platform designed for use by companies of all sizes – from mom-and-pop retailers to Fortune 100 enterprises. We are looking for bright, energetic, enthusiastic engineers to help us build our SaaS offering for mobile content that has already sparked significant market interest.

Job Responsibilities:

The Senior Software Engineer is one of the key positions working on a team responsible for building our mobile publishing SaaS platform. This engineer will have the opportunity to develop with cutting-edge technology on every layer of web applications with a strong emphasis on building scalable, distributed server-side components. The candidate will be a skillful engineer, whether solving cross-browser issues in the UI layer, building scalable components for sending SMS or designing data models. The engineer will also be building and deploying the platform, supporting existing code, and troubleshooting production issues.

Requirements:

BS/MS in Computer Science or comparable degree and experience

8+ years of software development with specific experience in web applications

Solid object-oriented design and development in Java

Prior experience working on concurrent, multithreaded, distributed applications

Development experience on servers such as jetty, Tomcat, JBoss, etc

Knowledge of XHTML, JavaScript, AJAX, YUI, JSF, Facelets, Servlets, J2EE, JDBC, Hibernate, PostgreSQL/mySQL

Interested in working on NoSQL databases such as SimpleDB, CouchDB, Cassandra and cloud services such as Amazon EC2, S3

Hands-on experience with Ant, SVN, Unix/Linux systems, some system administration knowledge preferred

Highly self-motivated, internally-driven and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment

How does SmartMessaging work?

On the sender side: Images, text and links are uploaded into the SmartMessage application and automatically optimized for different mobile phone screen sizes. These elements are linked to a standard SMS message, associated with a contact list, then broadcast with the push of a button. The process is easy and remarkably similar to creating and sending a customized email campaign.

On the recipient side: Mobile phone users receive a standard SMS message with a unique embedded link. Clicking the link displays the SmartMessage in the phone's browser. Embedded images, text and links guide the mobile recipient to action, as intended by the sender of the SmartMessage. Because the links are unique, recipient activity reporting is possible on an individual and aggregate level.
